1. Areas for language strengthening observed in student pilots coming to the US for flight training.
2. Multi-sensory approach to correcting these deficiencies so that students can be successful in an English-only environment.
a. Use of the Spalding Method to connect spoken English to written English.
b. Use of English only in the classroom.
c. Diagnostic, multi-sensory, integrated instruction in an aviation context.
d. New vocabulary is reinforced by using the words in the context of new knowledge.
e. Interactive exercises to practice using new vocabulary and concepts.
f. Moving beyond translation. Focus on functioning in the English language without translation.
3. If time permits, an example of a recent lesson plan with video clips from the actual classes.
