In the early days of the university, the Mathematics Teaching Division and the Physics Teaching Division emerged as the teaching pillars supporting the 14th Aviation School of Chinese People’s Liberation Army. In July 2021, the Faculty of Science was formally founded to strengthen students' foundations in mathematics and physics, drive advancements in these disciplines, and contribute to the establishment of a world-class aviation university with Chinese characteristics.

Since its establishment, thecollege has steadfastly adhered to the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and closely focused on the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education. It offers two undergraduate majors in Information and Computing Science and Data Science and Big Data Technology, with the Information and Computing Science major designated as a national first-class undergraduate major. The college has undertaken more than 20 government-funded and industry-sponsored research projects at or above the provincial and ministerial levels, including those supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China. Simultaneously, it has spearheaded over 90 teaching research projects, such as the Central Education and Teaching Reform Special Project and the University-Industry Collaborative Education Program of Ministry of Education of China. Furthermore, more than 200 papers have been published and indexed in SCI, EI, and ISTP.

Leveraging the university’s specialized strengths in the civil aviation sector, thecollegeaims to build a first-class institution with distinctive characteristics. Thecollegeplaces equal emphasis on teaching and scientific research, integrates theoretical study with practical application, and pursues the unified development of teaching, learning, and research, which has cultivated a large number of high-caliber modern professional. Based on the distinctive strengths in civil aviation disciplines, thecollegedevelops tailored cultivation pathways aligned with the characteristics of each student. By opening up platform resources and deepening industry-university-research collaboration, thecollegeactively promotes the integration of teaching, learning, research, and application, providing students with extensive opportunities to participate in national-level projects and authentic engineering practices. This comprehensively fosters their innovative capabilities and practical competence in the fields of Artificial Intelligence, Big Data System Development, and Data Security. In addition, thecollegehas established off-campus internship and training bases in collaboration with enterprises such as the Chengdu Guoxin'an Information Industrial Base and Sichuan Huadi Information Technology Co., Ltd. These initiatives further empower talent cultivation and enhance students' employability.
