WELCOME TO College of Flight Technology

As one of the earliest established and core constituent colleges of the University, the College of Flight Technology undertakes teaching responsibilities for the Aviation Theory curriculum of the Flight Technology program and for the Applied Psychology program. It plays a central role in scientific research and talent development in areas such as flight technology and operations, aviation human factors engineering, and modern navigation technologies. The College currently has 157 faculty and staff members and has received numerous national and provincial honors, including the China Youth May Fourth Medal, the National Worker Pioneer Award, and honorary titles such as the National Outstanding Communist Youth League Cadre, the Outstanding Communist Party Member of Sichuan Province, the Outstanding Communist Party Member of Civil Aviation, the Advanced Collective in Education of Sichuan Province, the "Curriculum Ideology and Politics" Demonstration Team of Sichuan Province, and the inaugural Outstanding Teacher Team among CAAC–affiliated universities. The College offers two undergraduate programs—Flight Technology and Applied Psychology—with more than 7,000 students enrolled in Flight Technology and over 270 students in Applied Psychology. It is authorized to confer an academic master’s degree in Intelligent Science and Technology, and a professional master’s degree in Transportation and one in Applied Psychology. With more than 170 graduate students enrolled across these programs, the College has established a multi-level and comprehensive talent development system.

Adhering to an outcomes-based approach, the College promotes reforms in teaching governance. Its flagship program, Flight Technology, is recognized as nationally top-tier: it was among the inaugural cohort designated as a National First-Class Undergraduate Program, has successfully passed engineering education accreditation, and was ranked A+ (No. 1 nationwide) in the 2025 Soft Science ranking. Led by our University in collaboration with universities such as Beihang University, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and Civil Aviation University of China, the College was approved as the second batch of Virtual Teaching and Research Offices for Flight Technology by the Ministry of Education. The College has innovatively established a dual-integration training model combining "degree + license + English" and "theory + practice," forming a distinctive education paradigm characterized by selective admission, meticulous cultivation, rigorous management, and authoritative certification. It has developed a core competency evaluation system for civil aviation pilots in the new era, along with an achievement assessment model integrating theory and flight training and the Pilot Professionalism Lifecycle Management System. Leveraging personal learning portfolios and learning analytics radar charts, the College has achieved real-time, cross-domain monitoring and evaluation among students, instructors, and industry partners. To date, the College has trained nearly 100,000 outstanding pilots for China’s civil aviation industry.

The College has made remarkable achievements in teaching and research. It has developed two National First-Class Undergraduate Courses, and two of its textbooks have been selected for inclusion in the National "14th Five-Year Plan" Undergraduate Planning Textbooks (under public review). In addition, the College has established eight Sichuan Provincial First-Class Undergraduate Courses, three Sichuan Provincial Advanced Courses, and four Sichuan Provincial "Curriculum Ideology and Politics" Demonstration Courses, and five of its textbooks have been selected for inclusion in Sichuan Provincial "14th Five-Year Plan" Undergraduate Planning Textbooks. The College maintains a nationally leading position in research areas such as flight technology and safety, flight operations under high-altitude and special conditions, and aviation human factors engineering, serving as a key technical support unit for the Civil Aviation Administration of China in the field of transport aviation operations.

The College is well equipped with excellent educational and research facilities. It operates four teaching and research laboratories: Flight Simulation and Emulation, Modern Navigation Technology, Aircraft Performance and Aerodynamics, and Aviation Human Factors and Ergonomics, with equipment assets valued at 70 million RMB. An additional 80 million RMB is planned for key laboratories in the new campus. The Flight Simulation Virtual Simulation Experimental Teaching Center (Flight Simulation Laboratory) has been recognized as a provincial virtual simulation experimental teaching center and as the first university-based flight simulation training center authorized by Aero Sports Federation of China. The College has also been approved to establish "the Sichuan Provincial Engineering Research Center for Flight and Operational Support of Domestic Civil Aircraft."
