Educational practice in economics and management at the University began in 2001. The college of Air Transportation Management was established in 2005 and was reorganized in 2014 through a merger to form the college of Airport Engineering and Transportation Management. Following several rounds of disciplinary optimization and structural adjustment, the college of Economics and Management was officially established in 2021. Drawing on the multidisciplinary strengths of CAFUC, the college has developed a distinctive focus on civil aviation–oriented economics and management, promoting the coordinated development of management science and economics. It has grown into a leading open platform for scientific and technological innovation and a high-level talent cultivation base serving the civil aviation industry and regional economic development.
The college is authorized to confer master’s degrees in Management Science and Engineering and offers the Master of Business Administration (MBA) program. It provides four undergraduate programs—Business Administration, Marketing, Public Administration, and Emergency Management—forming a multi-level education system that integrates postgraduate education, undergraduate education, and professional training. The college has more than 60 faculty and staff members, including 15 with overseas study experience and 21 master’s supervisors. In recent years, faculty members have published over 60 high-quality academic papers, more than 30 of which are indexed by CSSCI, SSCI, or SCI, and have undertaken 65 national and provincial research projects. In addition, the college has published more than 10 academic monographs and has received multiple honors, including the Third Prize of the Civil Aviation Science and Technology Award and university-level teaching achievement awards.
Guided by the principles of "quality-driven development, talent-oriented strategy, and distinctive growth," the college is committed to cultivating high-level management professionals aligned with the development of new quality productive forces. Emphasis is placed on industry–university collaboration, practice-oriented education, and joint training programs to enhance students’ professional competence and competitiveness. The college hosts several research platforms, including the Chengdu–Chongqing Twin-City Economic Circle High-Quality Development Research Center, and its Business Administration program has been designated as a Provincial First-Class Undergraduate Program in Sichuan Province.
