The College of Airport Management serves as a key national base for the cultivation of high-level innovative professionals, scientific research, advanced technology development, and professional training in the field of civil aviation airports in China. Guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, the College has established a comprehensive education system covering both undergraduate and master’s programs. It currently offers a master’s degree in Transportation (Professional Degree), and three undergraduate programs—Traffic Engineering, Transportation Management, and Logistics Engineering—and an international student program in Transportation Management (Airport Operations Management). Currently, the College has more than 1,600 students enrolled. Among these programs, the Transportation Engineering program successfully passed the expert review for Engineering Education Accreditation in 2025.
With a strong focus on aviation safety, airport operational efficiency, and professional service quality, the College closely integrates management with engineering practice and promotes an integrated development model that brings together government, industry, academia, research, and application, implementing a domestically leading education model for innovative talent in civil aviation airports. It has established a full-chain practical training system, featuring large-scale internship bases, branded professional competitions, and precise employment linkage, achieving full coverage of dual mentors from both on-campus and off-campus institutions.
The College hosts the provincial–ministerial-level research platform, the Sichuan Provincial Engineering Research Center for Intelligent Operation and Maintenance of Civil Aviation Airports. It has also established a number of key university-level laboratories, including those for airport airfield pavement maintenance, engineering surveying, airport operations control simulation, airport planning and capacity simulation, airport ecological environment protection and bird-strike prevention, airport airfield materials, and intelligent logistics. Relying on these platforms, four specialized research teams have been formed, conducting organized research in the areas of high-performance materials and structural behavior theory for civil aviation airport engineering, integrated and collaborative airport-wide operations technologies, smart airport management and intelligent inspection technologies, and low-altitude economy and air logistics. Over the past three years, faculty members have published more than 150 high-level academic papers.
Rooted in civil aviation, serving society, and reaching globally, the College regularly organizes professional training programs each year in areas such as airport operations command, airfield management, obstacle limitation management, and dangerous goods transportation. In 2024, the College enrolled its first cohort of international students in the Transportation Management degree program and successfully hosted the Belt and Road Airport Air Traffic Control and Airport Management Training Program. The program attracted 20 mid- to senior-level civil aviation managers from seven countries, significantly enhancing the College’s international influence. At present, the College is steadily emerging into a cradle for the training of civil airport engineers in China, a research and development center for new smart airport technologies, and a training base for airport professionals, providing talent and intellectual support for the high-quality development of China’s airports.
